Random Wedding Wednesday: DIY Wedding Favors

Weddings are expensive, as if you didn't already know by now. Everything I have done for our wedding has been recycled, garage sale scouted, or made by me.

I wanted to spend our money wisely and make smart decisions, what was I going to do with 500.00 worth of flowers after the big day? Nothing, they would be thrown away. I had a hard time spending a large amount of money on my dress as, I am only going to wear it one time.

Today's Bride On A Budget Tip: DIY Favor Mason Jars

When it came to the topic of favors we wanted something people would actually use after they left. I didn't want to get candy, or anything of that sort, I wanted something fun, and something different.
first choose we chose
customized koozies : $400.00  Nope.
than it was customized mason jars: $450.00 (after the shipping costs, mason jars are heavy) definitely no.

So I started thinking and brainstorming. I had seen the cute straw in the mason jar theme all over pinterest and really fell in love with it,

but how could I do that myself without overdoing my costs?
I googled bulk mason jars and found 12 oz glasses for .70 cents a piece! So 70.00 (plus 40.00 bucks for shipping) final cost: $110.00

than I scrounged Etsy for the straws and found partypaperstraws they had the best price for a bundle of 100 straws. Shipping included final cost: $22.95

I was going to leave it at that. Just the straws in the mason jars, one on every body's table and for 130.00 bucks for 100 favors, I really couldn't go wrong.

than I received a coupon from Magnetstreet.com. We ordered our save the dates from them and they did such an amazing job, so when the email stated they were showcasing their new favor tags, I decided to take a peak and there it was the PERFECT favor tag to showcase our glasses, I just couldn't resist, plus at .20 cents a tag and a 15% off coupon left us with a final cost of : $26.08

Everything arrived on my doorstep the other day and I couldn't wait to assemble my vision. So with the twine I already had purchased to wrap our DIY centerpieces so that cost was Free

4 Step Easy Peasy Process:
Wrap the twine
Cut the Twine
Place on Favor Tag
Tie the bow

and it's complete

Final Cost: 100 Mason Jar Favors
$159.03

Almost 1/4 the price of ordering jars that someone else would customize for me

Being a bride on a budget saves you money, and all your decorations turn out SO much better in the end!

  12. Cute! Is the mason jar personalized itself, or just the tag?

We made our own party favors too. Personalized, classy and semi-easy to do. Bonus: people could use them long after the wedding. :)
